On one of our trips to Dasht-e Barchi, we had the honor of meeting the championship Afghan National Martial Arts team. They gave a demonstration of martial arts, and we were able to get a sense of how important martial arts are to the Hazara community; in a country where they stand out by their facial features and have historically been discriminated against and victimized because of their ethnicity, those Asian nations that founded the martial arts and martial arts movies provided a certain attraction to Hazaras, among whom martial arts are wildly popular.
